Keep on Reading
It is true that in the last two weeks of this term the library is closing for the much needed inventory ready for the next year, however, we are delighted to introduce Capstone Interactive resource to keep those little (and not so very little) readers happy over the summer.
There are thousands of books to access completely for free, all you need is an iPad!
Once you download the 'Capstone Interactive' app and use the logins provided in the flyer, you'll be able to read the books offline.
Happy Reading everyone!! :-)
P.S. Don't forget about the Summer Reading Challenge 2018 which you can access here.
Did you know that. . .
... during the summer break, students risk loosing up to 2.6 months of math skills, 2 months of reading skills and 1 month of overall learning?! As we travel to meet with friends and family in the school holidays, move from one place to another and get busy with numerous activities, it is understandably easy for students to forget some of what they've learnt, slip out of practice and find themselves in so called "summer slide". Therefore, the benefits of summer reading are even more apparent. Studies show that the students who participated in the summer reading programs, score higher in the reading tests than those who didn't.
As parents we can encourage our children to keep learning and practicing their skills through numerous activities and primarily reading:
- find out about activities and reading programs available in your local library
- see the BSAK Summer Reading page for guidance

Summer Reading
The long Summer holiday is an ideal time to build on good reading habits, and foster a real life-long love of books away from the classroom. We hope that our Summer Reading Challenges will motivate you to keep on reading every day of your Summer holiday.
